Data Expedition, Inc. Announces Partnership With Sirgent Corporation of Tokyo to Market MTP/IP in Japan as Alternative to TCP/IP

BREA, Calif. (June 23, 2004) -- Seth Noble, Ph.D., president of Data Expedition, Inc.,
announces today that Sirgent Corporation of Tokyo has signed an exclusive agreement to
market MTP™/IP and HyperGate™ technologies in Japan as alternatives to TCP/IP, the
traditional mechanism for transmitting data over computer networks. As is the case across the American IT landscape, Japan has been dealing with the recent explosion in the volume of online information that goes well beyond what was anticipated when the country's
infrastructure was originally created for transferring high-speed and high- volume information.
"We believe the MTP/IP and HyperGate technologies developed by Data Expedition, Inc. will
effectively meet the growing need in Japan to upgrade IT performance, without forcing users
to make costly investments that change the existing system or equipment," says Hiroshi
Matsumoto, CEO of Sirgent Corporation. "For that reason, we at Sirgent are pleased to
introduce the MTP/IP and HyperGate to Japan's communications companies, service providers, system developers, and individual users."
According to Matsumoto, experts now anticipate that significant additional investments will be needed to upgrade Japan's network infrastructure because of further increases in the
transmission of VoIP, IP wireless, TV, conference and other data services.
MTP/IP is a high speed transport protocol that is fully compatible with existing network
standards, requires no changes to the network or operating systems, and is transparent to the end user. Noble says MTP/IP was designed to be an alternative to TCP/IP, the traditional mechanism for transmitting data over computer networks which was created nearly 30 years ago but is unable to keep up with current demands of network usage. He says MTP/IP provides network application developers and IT managers many significant business benefits, including:
Reduced time waiting for the completion of large bulk data transfers.
Increased volume of transactions.
Lower costs of operation.
Deferred need to upgrade current connections through more efficient use of network
HyperGate easily deploys MTP to standard web clients and servers. Worcester, Mass.-based VNetSoftware conducted independent testing of MTP/IP using a variety of tests on live Internet paths. According to the final report "this testing confirms that across most network conditions, MTP performance is significantly superior to TCP." Trial software and white papers on MTP/IP and HyperGate are available at http://www.DataExpedition.com/.
"We are very pleased Sirgent has recognized the value our technology brings to the market,"
says Dr. Noble. "Their expert knowledge of the Japanese market will be of great help inaccelerating the adoption of MTP/IP and HyperGate in a strategic growth region for DEI."
